BGR Burger Named Third Best In World

This month, BGR is serving up the burger that was named third best at the World Burger Championships in Las Vegas.

Want to taste test a world champion burger? Look no further than BGR. The Burger Joint's entry in the World Burger Championships last month took home third place -- and the title of third best burger in the world. “The World Champion” is a prime dry-aged burger topped with bacon/onion jam, fried egg, cheese and pineapple, according to BGR reps. This month, BGR is featuring the winning creation as their burger of the month. The Burger Joint was selected in October to compete in the World Food Championships, described by QSR Magazine as the "highest-stakes food competition in the world." The event, which took place Nov. 1 through 4 in Las Vegas, was hosted by Travel Channel personality Adam Richman. Competitors faced off in multiple food …

I have been to BGR twice, once in Bethesda and once in Washingtonian Square. [The latter location took forever to open, but it is right by the theaters -- very convenient.] The burger from the Bethesda joint was disappointing, but the french fries and milk shakes were very good. Fries are not easy to do well, but if you can't make a delicious milk shake you need to find something else to do with …   more ›

BGR to Mark National Cheeseburger Day with Slider Eating Contest

Tuesday, contestants will battle to eat the most sliders in 10 minutes.

In honor of National Cheeseburger Day on Tuesday, Bethesda’s BGR: The Burger Joint will be challenging eight to 10 hungry souls to eat as many cheeseburger sliders as their stomachs can handle in a 10-minute timeframe. Each contestant will sit behind a pile of 50 cheese sliders and compete to win a cash prize. Contestants will also have a chance to qualify for the national finals, which will be held in Washington, DC, on National Hamburger Day in May.   “We’re having various qualifying rounds at BGRs all around the country.  Then next year we’ll have the world championship in Washington, DC, very similar to the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island,” said BGR owner Mark Bucher. “Then we will make it an annual thing every year on …

BGR The Burger Joint Opens Its Doors on Saturday

Grab a burger at Cabin John Shopping Center's newest restaurant when it opens on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Potomac’s newest burger restaurant will open its doors to customers on Saturday, adding one new restaurant to the mix in Cabin John Shopping Center. BGR The Burger Joint, 7949 Tuckerman Lane will open on Saturday at 11 a.m. The restaurant, which was originally expected to open in Potomac by mid-March, had to push back its opening to around May 29 because of delays caused by “normal construction,” said Mark Bucher, the founder of BGR The Burger Joint. The early completion of the construction is allowing for a May 21 opening. Construction on the location started in the beginning of February, Bucher said in a previous interview. The Potomac BGR The Burger Joint will be the chain’s largest location. With a capacity for 80 people, Bucher said …
