The newly remodeled Bethesda Row Cinema is set to open May 3 with new amenities such as a full-service bar, luxury reserved seating in each auditorium, three-dimensional projection theaters and an expanded concession menu, according to theater spokeswoman Stephanie Kagan. "Each of the eight auditoriums has been outfitted with new screens, sound systems and special leather chairs designed to provide maximum comfort to patrons. A man allegedly shoved another moviegoer following a verbal dispute, police said.
A man allegedly shoved another moviegoer during a film at the Bethesda Row Cinema Christmas Day, according to Montgomery County Police. The fight erupted after two men got in a verbal dispute over talking during the movie, according to Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Officer Janelle Smith. A 27-year-old man shoved the victim, a 31-year-old man, Smith said. Police responded to the theater shortly before 11 p.m. Dec. 25 for the report of an assault, Smith said. The man wasn’t arrested or formally charged, but a police report was written, Smith said. The victim could decide to press assault charges against the suspect, Smith said. The Bethesda Row Cinema soon may begin serving alcohol at its cafe. The news was first reported by Bethesda blogger Robert Dyer. The cinema hopes to start serving alcohol by the spring, an employee confirms, and is working through the application process for a liquor license. It's not clear whether they'll serve liquor, or only beer and wine. A hearing before the county's liquor board is set for Nov. 15, Dyer reports. The cinema's parent company, Landmark, features a full bar at its popular E Street location in Washington, DC. The cafe at E Street offers about 20 bottled beers and about 23 different wines served by the glass or bottle.
