Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Dept. to Dedicate Room in Honor of Late Councilmember

Marilyn J. Praiser was a "tireless" supporter of the station and played a key role in its expansion.

The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) will dedicate its new meeting and training room next week, in honor of late Montgomery County Councilmember Marilyn J. Praisner. Praisner was a staunch supporter of the station and key in getting the council to approve funding for building expansion, which includes the new training room. Prior to its completion in 2010, volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians often had to travel to Rockville for training classes which can now be held on-site. A plaque in Praiser's honor will be permanently on display in the room.  "She fought hard to get this have this room built," said Tami Bulla, fire department president.
