Get a free cup of yogurt in exchange for a donation to the local nonprofit.
Donate a new pair of pajamas to Montgomery County’s less fortunate residents and receive a free cup of frozen yogurt this weekend. In exchange for a donation of new pajamas to local non-profit A Wider Circle, Potomac’s Orange Leaf Yogurt will offer a free 3-ounce yogurt to customers all day Sunday. Based in Silver Spring, A Wider Circle is a nonprofit program benefiting adults and children affected by homelessness, poverty and substance abuse in the greater-Washington DC area. The Orange Leaf fundraiser is asking for new clothing in both adult and children’s sizes to be donated at its Cabin John Mall location. For more information call the store at 301-983-0292.

Autograph tickets are $25.
Lorenzo Alexander, special teams captain for the Washington Redskins, will be in Potomac to sign autographs Saturday afternoon. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Hall of Fame Cards in the Cabin John Mall, Alexander will greet fans and sign photos and helmets, in addition to other items for purchase in the store. Store-owner Stephanie Menick will host an anniversary celebration this weekend.
This weekend a Potomac store celebrates one year in business at the Cabin John Mall with a party for customers. Occasions Unique Gifts owner Stephanie Menick began her 10-year career in the gift industry, selling gift baskets from her home. Today she celebrates a decade long career culminating in a successful physical store presence in Potomac. In 10 years Menick says her favorite part of the business is just making people happy. “It’s a happy industry, people enjoy shopping, enjoy receiving,” Menick said. “We’re working around pretty items, colorful bows and creating things that touch people.” With many memorable sales throughout her career, Menick says there’s still one that sticks out: An older gentlemen came into her store on Valentine…

The Cabin John Shopping Center in Potomac has a retro eatery on its horizon, serving breakfast, lunch dinner and late night snacks. Benny's Bar & Grill will soon start renovating the former Popeye's space of the shopping center, giving it a 1940s retro makeover and an 1800-square-foot addition to allow for seating for 200 or more guests. The restaurant menu will feature American standards, according to owner Benny Fischer. "Steaks, chops, chicken, seafood, burgers, sandwiches and an extensive salad menu in addition to featuring the largest bar in Montgomery County -- 65 feet," Fischer said. Cabin John Mall's newest frozen yogurt store, Orange Leaf, held its grand opening ceremony this week. Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett cut the store's grand opening ribbon. “I was pleased to see so many members of our local community come out to support us during the grand opening,” said Dana Anderson, store manager. “We look forward to continuing to provide Potomac and nearby areas with the premium taste and stellar customer experience perfected by the Orange Leaf brand.”

Business has been booming lately for the Cabin John Mall located in Potomac. We contacted the mall’s property manager, Valle Bonhag with Carl M. The space formerly occupied by Pomegranate Bistro will soon open its doors to a Chesapeake-Bay themed restaurant, just in time for Labor Day. The new eatery is accepting applications for employees. Washingtonian Magazine reports that husband-and-wife team Valerie and Rick Dugan are putting the final touches on the first solo venture in their 25 years of Washington restaurant service. The restaurant, called The Grilled Oyster Company, will be located in the Cabin John Mall in Potomac. Bethesda and Chevy Chase residents may recognize the two from Clyde’s Restaurant Group and O’Donnell’s Sea Grill, the magazine reported. The Cabin John Mall’s latest frozen yogurt shop has announced a new date for its grand opening celebration. Orange Leaf, calling itself “America’s Frozen Yogurt,” had scheduled the grand opening celebration of its new location in the mall for earlier in August, but construction complications pushed the date back, while the shop opened on a trial basis. This fro-yo franchise plans to host its grand opening at the new Cabin John Mall location in Potomac next Friday.
Update (July 26, 4:40 p.m.): According to Dana Anderson, a spokesperson for Orange Leaf, the shop has experienced some construction setbacks and will not host its grand opening next Friday. The yoga wear shop in Cabin John Mall will close after being acquired by an online retailer.
Looks like Potomac yogis will have to buy those signature flower print yoga pants online after March 1, when StretchAlicious' doors will close in the Cabin John Mall. According to Bethesda Magazine, the online retailer ActivewearUSA.com acquired the 5-year-old business and will sell its merchandise online. “Though I’ll miss all of my customers, it’s a good thing,” co-founder Randi Klein told Bethesda Magazine. “ActivewearUSA.com is one of the biggest online retailers of activewear in the country…. It was a good offer and the time was right.” In the meantime patrons can stock up as StretchAlicious will host a 75 percent off sale until Feb. 29.
