Kids Learn Hip Hop Dance at Potomac Community Center

Studio-310 puts on kids classes at the community center.

Hip hop dance classes for youth began this week at Potomac Community Center. The classes last for ten weeks and are taught by instructors from nearby dance center Studio-310. The classes, held on Wednesdays, gives children the opportunity to learn basic hip hop steps and show off their new moves at the end of the season with a performance. Darienn Doby, Studio-310's studio assistant, was the substitute teacher responsible for last Wednesday's class. She led students in the beginning of the "continuing choreography" process, where dancers learn one part of the final dance during each class. Each set of steps is taught separately and without music, so students can first learn each individual move before combining them together with music. …
