We put up holiday lights to see how pretty they look when it gets dark. You want to capture those lights on your camera, but getting those lights to look right in your pictures can be more of a challenge than you bargained for. Professional photographers have lot of experience and cameras with all sorts of settings that most of us wouldn’t know what to do with. Here are three tips for the amateur photographers out there. Use these tips to take a picture of your holiday lights. Post the picture to Potomac Patch’s Deck the Halls contest page and you could win $100,000 for your school district. First Canine gives a sneak peek at the 2012 White House Christmas decorations in new video.
Before some 90,000 people walk through the White House to see the 2012 Christmas decorations, Bo Obama, the dog in chief, gave a behind the scenes tour in a new video. “This year’s theme is ‘Joy to All.’ It celebrates the many joys of the holiday seasons: the joy of giving and service to others; the joy of sharing our blessings with one another; and, of course, the joy of welcoming our friends and families as guests into our homes over these next several weeks,” First Lady Michelle Obama said in a prepared statement. The 2012 Official White House Christmas tree is an 18-foot-6-inch Fraser Fir from Jefferson, N.C. Here's your chance to be a Potomac superhero and win $100,000 for the Potomac school district. Patch.com is launching a nationwide contest to find the best-dressed home in its Patch communities, and the winner’s school district will receive $100,000, no strings attached. Here’s how the contest works: Beginning on Dec. 8 and continuing through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site.
