Bethesda Magazine has published the results of its annual reader poll of the best businesses, services, schools and professionals in Bethesda, Potomac and surrounding towns.
Bethesda Magazine asked its readers their choices for the "Best of Bethesda," and the results are in. Yearly, the magazine publishes the results of its much-anticipated reader poll. Categories range from best restaurants, doctors and services to prettiest dessert, best lobster roll and best public school to get into Harvard. The list also includes several editors' picks, including best prom proposal, best local hero and most unusual pet specialties. The ratings take into account businesses and professionals from around Montgomery County and upper northwest Washington, DC. This week, the closure of a popular Bethesda steakhouse takes center plate: One Meat: Unsuccessful rental negotiations caused Divino Lounge—an Argentinian steakhouse in Bethesda—to close its doors for good, Bethesda Patch reported. After 10 years, the popular restaurant has vacated its Wisconsin Avenue location, and a "for rent" sign hangs above the space. Divino's owners had this to say about the closure on the restaurant's website. Radio hosts David and Nycci Nellis will broadcast live from Found Farmers in Potomac Sunday with brunch and a variety talk show for restaurant guests.
"Foodie & The Beast," a D.C.-area radio show for food lovers, will visit Potomac's Founding Farmers for a special live show broadcast on Sunday. The food and wine variety show hosted by David and Nycci Nellis airs on Federal News Radio 1500AM, featuring special guests, cooking ideas and tips for the best food and drink venues around town. Sunday's show will feature discussions with Founding Farmers' Corporate Executive Chef Joe Goetze about the restaurant's farm-fresh philosophy and community engagement projects. Known for its seasonal flavors and commitment to local farmers, Founding Farmers has been a popular Potomac restaurant since they opened earlier this month. Gourmet listed the DC-based eatery as one of the healthiest restaurants in the nation, stacking it up against restaurants in California, New York, Texas, Utah and more. Founding Farmers restaurant opened its Potomac doors in November to mixed online reviews. How do you rate your experience there?
Founding Farmers has been open for more than a month in its Park Potomac location and Patch wants to know what you think of it? Founding Farmers is located at the intersection of Seven Locks and Montrose Roads. The restaurant is commited to using local food sources and seasonal products. It seats more than 200 people inside with additional seating for 80 outside. The restaurant services breakfast, lunch and dinner and weekend brunch. It also hosts an "Afternoon Social" featuring tea sandwhiches, scones, tea and cocktails. The online restaurant review site Yelp gave the restaurant three out of five stars. The Founding Farmers Potomac location is set to open Nov. 3, five days before the originally scheduled date. The opening process of applying for licenses, hiring and training employees and other last minute preparations went faster than originally planned, according to Jennifer Motruk Loy, a marketing coordinator for the restaurant. The restaurant had planned to open Nov. 8. The restaurant will open at 7:30 a.m. for breakfast and will run on normal hours the rest of the day, Loy said. As we end one week and start another, it’s time for Patch’s week in review. Beginning the week, on Monday we posted an update regarding the new Purple line that got a lot of people talking. The Federal Transit Administration has given the Purple Line project approval to enter the preliminary engineering phase, which clears the way for construction on the light rail to begin as early as 2015. The newest Founding Farmers plans to open its doors at Park Potomac during the last week of October.
Dining out today is about more than enjoying good food and company in a pleasant atmosphere. More and more often, the dining experience incorporates organic foods and seasonal products from regional producers with the goal to bring the freshest ingredients to the plate with as little delay as possible. Founding Farmers restaurants are dedicated to that mission, using local sources whenever possible and feasible. The newest Founding Farmers restaurant is Potomac’s Founding Farmers. Originally slated to open mid-September, the opening is now anticipated for sometime during the last week of October.
