Celebrity chef and Bethesda resident named among the Daily Meal's 50 most powerful people in food.

Jose Andres has been named among America's most powerful foodies. Andres was named by the Daily Meal, which recently came out with its list of America's 50 Most Powerful People in Food.  The celebrity chef and Bethesda resident came in 18th on the third annual list, which highlights those who "affect what and how and where and why we eat." Andres is also a successful restaurateur behind eateries including downtown Bethesda's Jaleo. He also launched popular food truck Pepe. Also named on the list was First Lady Michelle Obama (No. 24), McDonald's head Donald Thompson (No. 7) and chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck (No. 36). Read the full story at the Daily Meal.

With dozens of restaurants in the area, listing each happy hour special would take forever, but here’s an offering of three Patch picks. This week’s theme: Last of the Sangria. Along with cold weather comes the seasonal drink shift, and what had the neighborhood abuzz in spring and summer will soon make way for seasonal drafts and holiday drinks. Bid adieu to sangria specials this week, while the warm October sun continues to shine. Come next week we’re fully in fall harvest mode.
