#MoCo Online: Air Conditioning the Schools

Unseasonably warm temperatures lead to questions about school air conditioning.

On Wednesday, several Magruder High School students were overcome by the heat. So, it's no wonder MCPS has been getting questions about the process of changing over from heat to air conditioning in the schools. MCPS posted on its website an explantion of the conversion process.

School Building Upgrades Recommended in Potomac

School modernizations and additions have been recommended for schools across Montgomery County.

Catch up on school news from this week.

What's been going on with Montgomery County Public Schools this week? Here are a few education headlines from around the county: Achievement Gap Grows Wider in Some Areas MCPS Superintendent Joshua P. Starr and other county officials repeatedly have emphasized their goal of narrowing the achievement gap that separates white and Asian students from black and Hispanic students. But a 130-page report released this past week found that the gap in scores for Advanced Placement exams, SAT tests and state-level math exams actually has grown wider for MCPS students, The Washington Post reported. Patch education blogger Joseph Hawkins predicted this outcome in his analysis of the county's efforts to close the achievement gap. Here's what he wrote …
