Community members packed the new school building during Friday's open house.
It looked like nearly half of Potomac showed up for the Beverly Farms Elementary School open house Friday evening. Parents, community members, former students and current students packed the school building, winding through halls and peeking into classrooms, for the first unveiling of the new building after nearly two years of construction. Check out the new building at a Friday open house.
The new Beverly Farms Elementary School welcomes students, teachers and parents today as students return from an extended winter break to their new school building on Postoak Road. A staple in Potomac since 1967, the Beverly Farms Elementary building was torn down in 2011 to make way for a new building and new technology. After 18 months of construction the new building is ready to welcome classes. "It's fitting that our new year will start in the new building," said Principal Dr. Beth Brown. "Brand new play equipment, new technology and a huge new building: Everything in the classroom is so bright and exciting." Seniors remember a long, happy career in the musical theater program.
This weekend is your last chance to see this year’s Winston Churchill High School Blast performance. The show, this year dedicated to the legendary Dick Clark, has been met with enthusiasm throughout the Churchill community, according to show organizers: All three performances were greeted by loud applause after each act and standing ovations at the end of each show. Our Blast 24 bloggers say they hope the enthusiasm continues, especially for this year’s graduating senior cast members: For the show’s seniors, reality is now setting in that there are only two more …

Student stories of inspiration and success.
It’s not every day a person can say he or she knew from the start what their future would look like at a young age, but one Churchill student seems to have it figured out. We at Patch were particularly inspired by a recent blog post from the Churchill Blast 24 team, detailing the talents of one student working hard behind the scenes of the annual production to make a spectacular show. As sound crew chief and student tech director, senior student Evan Cook has a tremendous responsibility on his hands – the sound and look of this year’s Blast 24 production, according to the team. The blog post reads: Evan is especially proud to implement a cutting edge sound strategy in this year's show. Inspired by a lecture by Tony Meola, the sound …
