Sugo Cicchetti Opens Today in Potomac Park

Italian restaurant is by owners of Cava, Cava Mezze and Mamma Lucia.

Since December of 2010, buzz has been building about a partnership of some popular local restaurateurs. Today, Sugo Cicchetti—the result of the union between the owners of Cava and Mamma Lucia restaurants—opens in Potomac Park. Bethesda Magazine quoted co-owner Ted Xenohristos explaining that the words in the establishment’s name are not necessarily meaningful “Sugo is the name of the restaurant and cicchetti is what we serve.” For the record, “sugo” means sauce in Italian, and “cicchetti” are small plates/snacks/side dishes. The preliminary menu features some classics: margherita pizza, linguine with clam sauce and a Caesar salad, alongside new twists on Italian cooking such as green eggs and ham (made with deviled eggs, crispy pancetta …

Patch: How did you decide on Stella as the name for your restaurant? George Liapis: We went through so many names and just couldn’t get one that was right. Bezu's former executive chef and co-owner is opening his own restaurant in Bethesda in March 2011.

The former co-owner and executive chef of Potomac's Bezu is opening a new restaurant on Elm Street in Bethesda in March 2011 that will serve food made with locally-grown ingredients. After four years as co-owner and executive chef at Bezu — an Asian fusion restaurant in Potomac — Dennis Friedman left the restaurant in October when co-owner, Eddie Benaim bought him out. Friedman wasted no time and pulled together the ingredients for a new restaurant that will be located at 4917 Elm Street in Bethesda. Founding Farmers Restaurant Coming to Potomac in the Fall

Founding Farmers Restaurant is scheduled to open at Park Potomac in September 2011.

Many residents in the Park Potomac Place development are looking forward to the opening of a new Founding Farmers restaurant in the fall.  "We're really excited," said Bryant Foulger of Foulger-Pratt, the company that built Park Potomac and manages the commercial properties there. "We really think Founding Farmers fits in well. High-end. Quality. It goes to the overall mix we were looking for." Park Potomac Place, located at the intersection of Seven Locks and Montrose Roads, is attractive to Founding Farmers because they were looking for the right suburban location.  "The Potomac Park location offered many great qualities that a very busy, established brand restaurant would want to have," said Director of Marketing for Founding Farmers, …

Chef Uses Professional Training to Enhance Potomac Restaurant

Bezu's owner and executive chef has made a name for himself and is using his skills to bring people to his restaurant in Potomac.

Hard work has paid off for local chef Dennis Friedman. "[I do] whatever it takes to get it done," said Friedman, the owner and executive chef of Bezu — a 4-year-old French Asian Fusion restaurant in Potomac. To prove to himself he could "do whatever it takes" to be successful, Friedman entered the prestigious 2010 Mason-Dixon Master Chef Tournament and won the 16-week, highly-publicized event. Since then the accolades in the media and especially in restaurant industry publications just keep on coming. Chef Friedman was born and raised in Potomac. After graduating from college he contemplated law school, but as he puts it, was "bitten by the restaurant bug." Friedman trained at the Culinary Institute of America, learned from world-renown …
