Chevy Chase Village police and Montgomery County police issued an alert Wednesday about several incidents involving men approaching young girls and women in Chevy Chase and Silver Spring neighborhoods. The latest incident happened near Kirkside Drive and Grove Street in Chevy Chase at 7 p.m. Tuesday, when a young woman said a man followed her in a minivan, shone a flashlight on her and then began walking quickly toward her. Hours before, in nearby Friendship Heights, police said a man driving a maroon SUV approached a 13-year-old girl. A Gaithersburg man is wanted on burglary, assault and several traffic charges in connection with the May 18 incident.
Montgomery County Police are still searching for the man linked to a hit-and-run car accident and several reported break-ins near the intersection of Shady Grove and Traville Gateway Drive on May 18. Police have identified a suspect, but would not release his name as the investigation is ongoing. Officer Amy Daum, spokesperson for Montgomery County Police, described the suspect as a 38-year-old white male from Gaithersburg. According to the police report, at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, the suspect fled the scene of a car accident involving two cars near the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Traville Gateway Drive.
