ReplyCars need to respect pedestrians, and pedestrians need to cross at crosswalks with the light. I run through Bethesda and always assume that drivers don't see me, or if they do, won't stop.

ReplyWith the fizzling of Deli Wars (http://bethesda.patch.com/articles/bethesda-deli-wars) since both closed, we really needed a Jewish-style deli. Attmans is about the best possible addition. We would drive to Baltimore just to get great deli. Now it will be within 5 miles of home!

ReplyThe problem with the Turkey Chase is that it has become too large. It used to be an opportunity to exercise and chat with your neighbors to start the holiday. Now, the race course is packed the entire way. One lane on Wisconsin Avenue is no longer enough. And then the Y field is mobbed, you can't move, you can't get to the refreshments and you can't find your family. This will be my 15th running of the 10K. I hope it goes off well.

I would NEVER be the type who would say "told you so." But, ahem, please read my Local Voices post from May 2011 where I kinda nailed this. http://bethesda-chevychase.patch.com/blog_posts/tax-on-bags-a-good-idea-gone-too-far
