Jihan is a community organizer and ESOL instructor based in Wheaton, Maryland. Before joining the team at IMPACT Silver Spring, she completed a one year AmeriCorps term of service at CASA de Maryland as a Citizenship Outreach Coordinator. She recently worked with Howard University’s Office of University Communications on several freelance projects for their alumni newsletter, The Capstone, and Howard Magazine, which has a print circulation of 80,000. One of her articles was reprinted in the Washington Examiner’s special report on education. Since moving from Jamaica in 1997, she has called this community home and attended both high school (Good Counsel) and college (University of Maryland, College Park) in the area.
